Five Musts Before You List Your Home

Getting ready to put your house on the market? Carla Hill, in an article in RealtyTimes, outlined 5 things to consider before you list. To summarize:

1 – Organize your paperwork for past repairs and upgrades and any home warranty info.

2 – Get ready to declutter. Sort through and get rid of things you don’t need now so you won’t be rushed later.

3 – Clean, clean and clean some more. Dirty homes are a buyer turn-off. Wash, paint, refresh.

4 – Get an inspection. Identify areas that will need repair.

5 – Make repairs or get estimates. Be prepared.

Supporting our Whidbey Island Community

Donation to HUB

Gail Pierce of Coldwell Banker Tara presents check to Eric Westphal of HUB

The South Whidbey Youth Connection closed the after-school drop-in Center for teens last summer when their grant expired. The HUB opened again in January with reduced staff one day a week. Their new board has been fundraising to try to extend hours of operation and the HUB will be open 2 days a week starting next month thanks to the generosity of the community.

Coldwell Banker Tara Commmunity fund supported SWYC for several years. It was sad to see the center close after 20 years of serving community youth last year. We were happy to see the doors open early this year, even if it is only for limited hours.
This is a place for the kids to go and socialize after school while many parents are still at work. Our donation will help keep the center in operation this Spring. Middle school students can go after school & have a meal (they are always hungry) with supervised activities.  It also provides an opportunity for  volunteers to interact with, support, and mentor youth. More than food and fun activities, it communicates to youth that adults in the community value and support them. The center is currently seeking volunteers to help with food prep in the HUB kitchen after school.

Thank you Coldwell Banker agents, for supporting the youth of our community!

Coldwell Banker Tara Properties is a Winner!

The Winning Entry

From the Good Cheer blog—-The winner of the 2011 Deck the Doors contest was Coldwell Banker Tara Properties on Second Street in Langley. Janet Ploof from the Main Street Association said that the $960 donation to the food bank  from this year’s winner was significant and that  “a sizable portion of the donation came from the individual real estate agents in their office, their door was cool, a wreath made of house keys, decorated miniature doors and blue prints! Some of the agents were born on Whidbey Island, and all of the agents are super supporters of Langley…..they rock!”

Great job everyone (especially Kim Kramer and Gail Pierce)!
